Charles Smith

3RD INFANTRY DIVISION

Corporal Charles Smith served in the 3rd Infantry Division during WWII and fought throughout Europe. He was one of the first American soldiers to cross the Rhine and begin the march to Berlin. He recalls being wounded by a german mortar, and the ferocious battles that left his company reduced to just 8 men. His experiences fighting through Germany are incredible, making this an interview you won't forget.

George Siessel

32ND INFANTRY DIVISION

George Siessel served in the 32nd Infantry Division during WWII and saw intense combat throughout the Pacific Theater. From Banzai charges to transporting the wounded, and visiting Hiroshima just one month after the Atomic Bomb was dropped, this interview is full of incredible stories.


I was graciously given this audio recording by the family of George Siessel to add to my collection of veteran oral histories.

BILL MCDONALD

1ST INFANTRY DIVISION

Sergeant William McDonald was an MP in the 1st Infantry Division during WWII. He was part of the first wave that landed on Omaha beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Despite being exposed to heavy German fire, Sergeant McDonald was never wounded. He and his unit fought all the way to the Elbe River in Germany where they met the Soviet army. His story of sacrifice and courage is sure to inspire.

IRVING LOCKER

116TH AAA GUN BATTALION
Staff Sergeant Irving Locker served in the 116th AAA Gun Battalion during WWII. He commanded several 90mm gun batteries during his time in Europe. He landed at Utah Beach on June 6, 1944 during the allied invasion of Europe on D-Day. During his time in Europe, he liberated a concentration camp and has numerous encounters with German armor, aircraft, and personnel.

ROY MORRISON

UNITED STATES ARMY EUROPE
Private First Class Roy Morrison served in the US Army during WWII. On D-Day, PFC Morrison was part of the American force that landed on Omaha Beach. He details the frightening experience of facing the powerful German defenses and running off of the Higgins boat. He also describes his personal encounter with General Patton and how he received his Purple Heart.

83RD INFANTRY DIVISION

In this video, hear the exciting stories of WWII Veteran Andrew (Wayne) Kunkel. He speaks about his time fighting in the thick hedgerows of Normandy, and  being wounded in a battle that killed most of his company.

WWII Veteran Robert Pope, who served in the 106th Infantry Division during the war, speaks about his time as a POW for 4 1/2 months in Germany. He and fellow prisoners were forced to repair bombed railroad tracks and do other heavy labor after being captured during the Battle of the Bulge.

WWII Veteran Julius Haberman, who served in the 69th Infantry Division during the war, talks about his time in Europe during the war.. From going behind German lines to gather reconnaissance information, to encountering a concentration camp, this is a story that is sure to impress.

In this exciting interview, 99-year-old Private First Class Alvin Hersey takes you back to 1944 when he was fighting in The Battle of the Bulge. He was captured by the Germans, and interned at a POW camp. His story is sure to inspire! He was born on Oct. 7, 1916, and passed on July 29, 2016, just 2 months short of his 100th birthday.
