BILL CUMBAA - PART 1

1ST MARINE DIVISION

USMC Captain Bill Cumbaa takes us back to the front lines of the Pacific Theater of WWII. Servingon the islands of Peleliu and Okinawa, he tells about his intense encounters with Japanese soldiers. Cumbaa was awarded 3 Purple Hearts, for the three times that he was wounded. In addition, he was decorated with the Silver Star twice. He talks about how he received these medals of valor in  this part of his interview.

BILL CUMBAA - PART 2

1ST MARINE DIVISION

In part 2 of Bill Cumbaa's interview, he talks about how his platoon killed 52 Japanese soldiers in a cave in Peleliu. He also recalls the intense combat on a ridge that left many of his men dead. In addition, he pays tribute to a corpsman that helped save many of his men while fighting the fierce Japanese soldiers.

Watch World War II veteran Corporal Richard Waters describe his experiences while in the Marines during the war. He fought against the Japanese on Guam while serving with the famous 3rd Marine Division.

WWII Marine Corps veteran Jack Walker describes his experiences fighting in the Pacific theater during the war. He discusses his adventures on Guam, and Iwo Jima, as well as how he met his future wife who was also a Marine.
