TUSKEGEE AIRMEN WWII VETERAN TURNS 100
Please join us in wishing a happy 100th birthday to WWII veteran Daniel Keel, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, a group of Black pilots who persevered in the face of racism within the United States armed forces and were able to make a valuable contribution to the war effort. Keel recently celebrated his centenary surrounded by friends and family.
During WWII, he endured unfathomable racism, discrimination, and segregation during his time in the US Army Air Force, but overcame the adversity to become triple qualified as a Navigator, Bombardier, and Pilot, attaining the rank of Flight Officer.
“The Tuskegee Airmen showed the world that if a negro was given the opportunity with a good education, hard work, and a little luck, we could do the job as well as anyone else,” Keel remembers.
